Anger Management for Couples

Learning to handle relationship anger in a constructive way is a skill that successful couples have more than other couples. We teach partners that the issues you fight over are not nearly as destructive to the relationship as HOW you fight, how you communicate with each other around the issues, and how you each react to the other’s anger.

Some partners are just angry people that would be angry pretty much no matter who they were in relationship with, or they are people who have poor coping skills to deal with normal marital stresses. For these partners, we recommend either private anger management counseling with Dr Fiore to deal with underlying personal issues, or attendance at our weekly anger management classes in Long Beach to learn the eight tools of anger control that have helped hundreds of people since 2002.

But, in many cases we also teach the partners of angry people how to better cope with their angry spouse. In other words, we teach you how to react differently to your partner in a way that gets different results, in a way so that you feel comfortable and empowered when doing so.

Much recent research clearly shows that if partners can both learn to communicate more effectively and also better manage how they deal with each other’s negativity, the chances of marital success climbs. To teach you the new skills needed, Dr Fiore often recommends supplemental educational resources which he has found through the years to be helpful to couples struggling with anger issues.
